Liv and I have water class at the same time-- she swims, I have aerobics. However, since she's the only child enrolled in the class, the time is reduced from the normal class length of 45 minutes to 30 minutes, essentially a private lesson. My class is still 45 minutes.
However, at the 30 minute mark, we've gotten down to crunches and other isolation exercises. Thus, I simply put her on my back for increased resistance. Voila.
She's pretty loud for a free weight, though.
